New iPod touch [with frickin' lasers on its head] spotted in China
This product has been coming for so long now I’m already tired of its features and thinking ahead to the next, super really cool Apple handheld that isn’t (but really is) a phone. Alternately, place of pride has been reserved on my primary credit card—boringly, there’s only one and it’s always paid in full—for the purchase of exactly this product come September.
Wired reports that “sources” say that Apple’s factories in China, aka Foxconn, are already minting the new iPod touch, which as we all know includes a camera and microphone.
“A well-connected source tells us those rumors are on the money, and that Apple’s factories in China are already manufacturing iPod Touch models with integrated cameras and microphones. An Apple spokesman declined to comment when reached by phone.”
This latest sighting looks impressive mounted and stuffed next to recent sightings of the iPod 3,1 (aka the new iPod touch) amongst web metrics data.
Cool though it may be, the next insanely great thing from Apple this isn’t. The fabled iPod touch on steroids (aka Mac touch) won’t be released until next year, which is also the timeframe for an Apple + Verizon hook up. Coincidence?
A non-phone that’s really a phone
As noted by Wired, with a camera and microphone (and a home wireless connection and Bluetooth jawbone maybe, too), the question of whether to dump your landline for Vonage will be decisively answered—don’t pay forever for home phone service again, just Skype.
Can I get a “hallelujah” from the chorus?
